Are you looking for a new IT opportunity? You’re probably using various job boards and job engines to find the perfect career opportunity for you.

But, are you using them correctly? And, are you using all the best job boards to broaden your career search?

Career Builder is one of the largest job boards providing job listings, resume postings and other various resources for job seekers. These jobs come directly from employers.

CareerBuilder also uses powerful AI to connect job seekers with employers.

LinkedIn has over 575 million users making it the largest social media professional network.

On this site you can search for various jobs, see who is working at various companies, and follow companies of interest. You can even showcase your various credentials. 

Perhaps you aren’t completely ready to start looking but want to see what’s out there, LinkedIn is a great place to start.

Glassdoor is an industry leader on salary information and employee reviews of a company. Members of Glassdoor can see the latest job listings and get access to content generated by users. Glassdoor is also owned by Google.

4. Indeed

Indeed is currently the top job board with millions of listings. Indeed aggregates job listings from thousands of company websites and other job boards.

Similar to Glassdoor, job seekers are able to obtain valuable insight through company reviews.  The reviews are completed by employees and job seekers.

Looking for a job with the government? This is the job site for you. This job site is exclusively for jobs with the U.S. government. 

This site only posts jobs that are on company websites. This means that many of the jobs on LinkUp are not posted on other job sites. This can be a key advantage because not many people go directly to a company’s websites and apply for jobs.

If you are looking to avoid duplicate job listings this is the perfect site for you.

SimplyHired is very similar to Indeed and in fact, indeed owns SimplyHired. Like Indeed, SimplyHired aggregates job listings from thousands of websites and job boards.

The difference between the two job boards is that SimplyHired is stronger on the west coast whereas Indeed has a stronger presence on the east coast

ZipRecruiter is similar to Indeed and Simplyhired as it aggregates job listings from other job boards and company career pages.

However, ZipRecruiter prides itself on using very powerful AI to learn about your background and job preferences to present opportunities to you.

9. Adzuna

Adzuan is a job listing site that gives you the option to sort by salary, location, industry, company and employment type.

This site differentiates itself by having various other tools. One example is ValueMyResumeTool. This enables you to upload your resume and with their powerful software, it provides your market salary (or hourly wage) value. 

10. Dice

Dice is one of the leading sites for technical job seekers. This site allows you to search by company, job title, location and various technical key words. 

You can upload your resume, store cover letters, track jobs and obtain salary information.

StackOverflow is a site mainly for programmers.  IT professionals can ask programming related questions which are answered by other programmers. Stackoverflow Jobs is a tab in StackOverFlow where various IT jobs are listed.

Google for Jobs allows job seekers to search and apply for jobs directly from google’s search bar. 

Google has partnered with CareerBuilder, Monster, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Facebook, Care.com and various other sources.

To access Google for jobs just type search in google’s search bar *Job Title your seeking* in the *location you’re seeking. For example, if you’re looking for a software engineer job in Cleveland Ohio. Just go to google’s search bar and google “Software Engineer Job in Cleveland Ohio.”

Bonus Tip

If you are actively looking for a new opportunity, use a variety of job sites.  Employers post jobs on various sites. There isn’t necessarily “the best job board” as one job board most likely won’t cover every need in your search.
