I always get random messages on LinkedIn that I tend to disregard because I think it's spam or just irrelevant sales, but one morning I received a message regarding a job opportunity for an industry I was very interested in. Lexi, who works at Emerald Group, asked if I was interested in having a quick discussion about a role she was trying to fill for a finance company. During our conversation, it became apparent there was something more than just a recruiter trying to get a payday off commission for hiring a candidate. Lexi was incredibly communicative, personable, and genuine. She was able to guide me through the role responsibilities as well as prep me for the interviews with the director and partner; it felt like I was given the answers to a test. All while laughing and chatting about our weekend plans in between. The consecutive interviews with the firm had a lot of material Lexi had helped me prepare for, and I couldn't be happier with the calls. The biggest takeaway from this was I didn't even get the job, and I'm still writing this positive review. This speaks volumes of the service I received regardless of falling short. She gave me great feedback and I could tell she was even more emotionally committed to me getting the job than myself at times. Again, you would assume it might be because of that's how recruiters get paid, but I assure you, my experience did not feel transactional. I hope to work with her again in the future.
