The Not So ‘Mistake By The Lake’

cleveland city 2

Cleveland has bragging rights… beyond Lebron James.

Forbes recently included Cleveland among the 15 U.S. cities with emerging downtown life. Fortune Magazine declares Cleveland as a “new Brooklyn”, comparing three of Cleveland’s trendiest neighborhoods to Williamsburg. The New York Post simply says it right: “Cleveland is seeing a revival.”

Things are changing in this old steel city, where hard work, innovation, and culture are coming together to mold a new future for its people.

Dr. Ronald Berkman, President of Cleveland State University, also agrees that Cleveland is stepping onto the playing field:  “I believe this renaissance is occurring in large part because of our city’s existing strong foundation: an industry based in health care – including some of our nation’s best hospitals – and advanced manufacturing; a vibrant arts and culture scene; and the presence of many large companies, such as KeyBank, Sherwin-Williams, Lubrizol, and Progressive, headquartered in Northeast Ohio.”

According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Cleveland is projected to create 150,000 new jobs between 2011 and 2022. This means that employment in Cleveland will be at a 20-year high with an estimated 2.57 million workers.

Besides being home to one of the “Big Five” nationally renowned orchestras, the Cleveland scene is growing, and fast.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, A Christmas Story House, the West Side Market, the Great Lakes Science Center, the Horseshoe Casino, Play House Square, and many more museums and attractions are scattered about Cleveland. Dubbed “the heart of the swing state”, Cleveland is also hosting the up-and-coming 2016 Republican National Committee.

Stamped on #ThisisCLE website, is the anthem of the city:

“Cleveland has never followed anyone else’s rules, we made our own. That’s because the city where rock was born knows a thing or two about passion, freedom and doing things your way. Sure, there’s been pressure. But under the right conditions, pressure can create diamonds.

So, if you like a bit of grit mixed with sophistication in a place where you can eat bucatini pasta served with beef jerky, dance to world music on the front lawn of a renowned art museum or do yoga in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – and all in a city where we don’t take ourselves too seriously – then come to Cleveland. We’d love to have you join us.

We’ve never been flashy, trendy or perfect. And for that, you’re welcome.”
